Spokane

Welcome to Spokane! Is it “spo-CAN” meaning “children of the sun.” A name given to the area by the Spokane Tribe and more specifically from Spokane Garry, or Chief Garry.

Spokane has a rich history as the birthplace of Father's Day and home to legendary NBA coach, Phil Jackson. But it's not just our past that makes Spokane a great place to live –  we have beautiful outdoor spaces like Riverside State Park and the Centennial Trail, a thriving arts and culture scene, and top-notch educational institutions like Gonzaga University and Washington State University Spokane. And let's not forget about our famous local brews, garlic fries, and Hoopfest – the largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament in the world.

Spokane, WA is known for its abundance of outdoor activities and breathtaking scenery. Located on the Spokane River, residents and visitors alike enjoy whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, biking, and camping. Mount Spokane State Park offers over 50 miles of trails for hiking and skiing in the winter months. There are a multitude of other surrounding lakes and rivers for even more opportunities for water sports and relaxation.

But Spokane's outdoor experiences go beyond just nature- the city is also home to one of the largest urban parks in the country, Riverfront Park. Visitors can stroll through beautiful gardens, ride on a historic carousel, or take a gondola ride over the falls.

In addition to its outdoor attractions, Spokane's history and culture add to its appeal as a great place to live. Known as the "Lilac City," Spokane hosted the first Lilac Festival in 1938, which continues to this day as one of the largest annual events in the city. The historic downtown area is also home to numerous restaurants, breweries, and theaters. Spokane has something for everyone.
